# Candle Calculator Pro > Free candle-making calculators, formula explanations, guides, and articles for hobbyists and small-business makers. The aquarium widget is a separate resource, not a candle calculator. Canonical website: https://candlecalculatorpro.com Complete HTML reference and article directory: https://candlecalculatorpro.com/candle-making-reference.html Article feed: https://candlecalculatorpro.com/feed.xml ## Candle-making formulas All ingredients are measured by weight. Use consistent units within each calculation. Fragrance load is oil weight divided by wax weight, not oil as a percentage of the combined mixture. ### Known wax weight Fragrance oil = wax weight × (load / 100). Total mixture = wax weight + fragrance oil. Example: 100 g wax at 10% load uses 10 g oil, for 110 g total. Example: 16 oz wax at 8% load uses 1.28 oz oil. ### Fixed total mixture weight Total batch mixture = container count × target mixture weight per container. Wax = total batch mixture / (1 + load / 100). Oil = total batch mixture - wax. Example: 100 g total mixture at 10% load uses 90.91 g wax and 9.09 g oil. Example: 12 candles × 8 oz total fill at 6% load uses 90.57 oz wax and 5.43 oz oil, or 96 oz combined. ### Burn-time estimate Hourly consumption = weight lost during a supervised burn test / test hours. Estimated burn time = usable wax weight / hourly consumption. Example: 12 g consumed in 3 hours means 4 g/hour; 200 g usable wax estimates 50 hours. Repeat testing across the candle's life. One test is not a guarantee of lifetime performance. ### Entered material costs and markup Entered material cost = wax + fragrance + container + wick + labels/packaging. Retail estimate = entered material cost × markup multiplier. Wholesale estimate = entered material cost × (markup multiplier / 2). Example: $5 material cost with a 4× multiplier gives $20 retail and $10 wholesale. The tool does not automatically include labor, overhead, shipping, fees, or taxes. These estimates are not net profit. ## Limitations - A jar's fluid-ounce capacity is volume, not net wax weight. Water-to-wax conversion depends on the wax blend and fill line; consult supplier density guidance and make a test pour. - Follow the wax manufacturer's fragrance maximum and the fragrance supplier's applicable safety guidance. The calculator's range does not authorize a load. - Test each wax, wick, fragrance, dye, and vessel combination. Follow supplier burn cycles and safe stop points. Never leave test burns unattended. - Tools do not certify candle safety, compliance, or profitability. - Article publication and update dates are supplied only where available, not inferred from the current date. ## Tools and guides - [Wax, fragrance, and burn-time tools](https://candlecalculatorpro.com): Free interactive calculators; JavaScript is required for interaction. - [Candle cost and pricing](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/cost-calculator): Per-candle material costs and markup estimates. - [Guide library](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/guides): Candle-making learning resources. - [Beginner's guide](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/guides/beginners-guide): Equipment and initial pours. - [Wax comparison](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/guides/wax-comparison-guide): Soy, paraffin, beeswax, and coconut wax. - [Fragrance guide](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/guides/fragrance-guide): Fragrance loads and scent throw. - [Wick selection](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/guides/wick-guide): Sizing and testing. - [Container guide](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/guides/container-guide): Vessel choice and preparation. - [Frequently asked questions](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/faq): Site and calculator questions. ## Selected articles - [Fragrance load vs content](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/fragrance-load-vs-content-scent-throw) - [Fragrance oil to wax ratio](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/calculating-fragrance-oil-to-wax-ratio) - [Water-to-wax conversion](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/how-much-wax-do-i-need-water-to-wax-conversion) - [Hourly burn rate](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/hourly-burn-rate-honestly-label-candles) - [Test-burn guide](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/candle-making-test-burn-guide) - [Pricing for profit](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/pricing-for-profit-calculating-true-cost-candles) - [Scaling candle recipes](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/scaling-candle-recipe-math) - [Scent blending](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/candle-scent-blending-guide) - [Choosing candle containers](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/ultimate-guide-choosing-candle-containers) - [Complete article directory](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/candle-making-reference.html#articles) ## Separate aquarium resources - [Aquarium widget](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/widget): Embeddable aquarium calculator. - [Aquarium water chemistry](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/aquarium-water-chemistry-guide) - [dGH to PPM conversion](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/blog/dgh-to-ppm-conversion-aquarium-water-calculator-guide) ## Safety sources These sources provide safety guidance; they do not endorse Candle Calculator Pro or certify its calculators. - [National Candle Association safety rules](https://candles.org/candle-safety-rules/) - [U.S. CPSC candle business guidance](https://www.cpsc.gov/Business--Manufacturing/Business-Education/Business-Guidance/Candles) - [IFRA Standards Library](https://ifrafragrance.org/safe-use/library) ## Site information - [About](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/about) - [Contact and corrections](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/contact) - [HTML sitemap](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/sitemap) - [Disclaimers](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/disclaimers) - [Privacy](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/privacy) - [Terms](https://candlecalculatorpro.com/terms)
